Ted Talk on how to reach your goals (Its not how you think)

I have been amiss in posting but trust me I am working on new project but I can’t tell you about it.

Why? Watch the video.

Empathy is what this World needs!

There is not much I can add to this except my thoughts that we all must connect and come to understand that if we want to survive as a species we must learn to show compassion for all beings. After watching the video consider trying this: The next time you feel “sorry” for someone, instead of being sympathetic try and empathize with them. Find a time that you felt the same and understand where they are and not how it can be fixed.

Empathy and sympathy are not just two different approaches to confronting the emotional challenges of others; they are diametrically opposite responses in many important ways. Sympathy places another’s problems at a distance from us, places us in a position of superiority, and “drives separation”, says the film’s narrator, Dr. Brené Brown. Empathy, on the other hand, requires that one internalize the feelings of another. That shared experience drives interpersonal connection, she says. “What makes things better is connection. – See more at: http://www.karmatube.org/videos.php?id=4646#sthash.PadjDzSC.dpuf

DewDrop World

This is a song written by David G Lanoue based off of Issa’s Haiku.

tsuyu no yo wa tsuyu no yo nagara sari nagara

this world
is a dewdrop world
yes… but…

Thank you to my daughter for the performance and to David for permission to use the song.

Please visit Haiku guy at http://haikuguy.com/issa/

This world is a dewdrop world
Things pass, no, nothing lasts
A boy and a little girl
On a dewdrop
Tiny dewdrop
It’s a dewdrop world

He loves how she looks at him
She loves his shining skin
Hot sun burns away the pearls
Of the dewdrops
Tiny dewdrops
It’s a dewdrop world

A ring made of hard, cool stone
Tells her she’s not alone
They watch lazy smoke rings curl
On a dewdrop
That they can’t stop
Fading dewdrop world

Compassion in action

runner heading
for the finish line-
coward hides his face

In reading about the explosion in Boston I was moved by one runner who had just FINISHED the race. They had just put the heat blanket wrap on him when he heard the first blast.

“I started running toward the blast. And there were people all over the floor,” he said. “We started grabbing tourniquets and started tying legs.

This is compassion in action.

Mosquito Buddha

future Buddhas

Our mind is the stagnant pond. If we recognize the Buddha within ourselves the larva will hatch and our mind will flow in harmony.

handwritten sign says
estate sale, one day only-

Today as I checked my email I looked at the upcoming estate sales. One hit me pretty hard. It was a demolition sale! Looking at the items for sale which were as follows: windows, flooring, doors, cabinets, fixtures, stove, washer and dryer.
The whole house was for sale to be picked over like a carcass. At first I thought of the dreams, hopes, joys and sorrows of families that had lived there. But then I thought about how parts of the house will continue to serve a purpose and how in some small way the energy of those people will be moved on too as our lost skin, hair and breath permeate the area we live in.

So while they and their house may be gone part of them both will become part of something new. All things are impermanent but also interconnected it changes in form only.

temporary formation

Our life too is just a temporary formation. Do not squander it on petty things. Live life not just exist.
