Becoming Ava

Standard

in late summer
the primates mated-
pandora’s box

in the cool of
fall the hare died-
pregnant pause

safe from winter
the seed grows-
tropical seas

buds bursting
the delicate flower-
time irrelevant

windy city
holds its breath-
first cry

a single smile
moves the universe-
daddy’s girl

The above senryu sequence is dedicated to my darling wife who on this day eight years ago gave birth to our Ava. Thank you again my love and Happy Birthday Ava.

  1. I love it! You’re poetry is so different that the verses I have always written. I never considered myself a fan of Haiku and these kinds of styles, but your blog has it growing on me by leaps and bounds. I love the simplicity that lends to the overall eloquence of your pieces!
