Forgotten person
quick, stoplight apparition
blank stare, sunken eyes
Today as I exited the highway, just before the VA Hospital, I was brought to tears by the poor homeless person who was standing there in the below freezing temperatures with a cup out hoping for someone to give them some change. My daughter and I gave all we had and wished we had more. We are going to put some blankets and canned food in the trunk and the next time we see them we will have more to give. As I walked around the grocery store later that day I was haunted by her stare and was mindful of how fortunate my family is.
yes, thank you for the reminder to be thankful. And you and your daughter have given a new friend something to be thankful for as well.
